Great Exhibition at CAC Málaga

How are you doing? I hope you’re enjoying your holidays as much as I am. I’m not very keen on processions, so I’ve been relaxing and watching many films and exhibitions. If you want to take a break from processions, I strongly recommend you a great exhibition at CAC Málaga called At home I’m a tourist’ Colección de Selim Varol.

Selim Varol is a collector and is currently displaying at CAC a few of his 15,000 artist toys.

Varol began collecting toys when he was six. Varol’s collection is a statement in refusing to let go of his childhood passion, and a representation of the cultures of his generation from hip hop to punk, skate culture to urban art. Many of the items are reflections on his favorite childhood toys, comics and TV characters.

Have a look at these pictures:

And there’s also some “committed” art (or social) art. It’s the kind of art that makes you think. Have a look at this piece by Shepard Fairey, for example.

What do you think? Let me know if you visit the exhibition!

Interesting exhibition in Málaga – Marie Curie

On Friday, I went to see an interesting exhibition about Marie Curie, winner of two Nobel Prizes for Physics and Chemistry.

Have you ever heard of her?
Did you know that she had to leave Poland, where she was from, because she wasn’t allowed to go to University there?
She studied in Paris and was the first woman to win as Nobel Prize and the only person who has won two of them!

There are panels explaining her life. And most of the information is both in French and in Spanish, so you can practice languages too!

I think she’s an inspiration for those of you who want to study science, isn’t she?
I recommend the exhibition. It’s on only till next week, so try to go and see it next weekend! This is the leaflet with more information.

Hope you enjoy it!
